Hinterland Styled Shoot
Our couple was bringing in soft vintage lace, sophisticated colored china and glassware and wildflowers to their beautiful barn wedding and I was immediately inspired to bring in an organic and romantic feeling to the stationary suite. Throughout the pieces, I wanted to touch upon a whimsical feeling which is why the stationary was designed on a higher textured watercolor paper that was hand torn to have a soft deckled edge.
The paper texture was important to nail down, I needed something that would tear easily but also had texture to bring out that organic and soft presence. I found a watercolor sketchbook that I knew would work perfectly. I would tear out the pages of the sketchbook, place the page individually through the printer and then hand tear the edges to create this effect.
I wanted the invitation suite to be a wow factor but in a subtle and light way, I didn’t want the designs to be bold or strong, but to play into the whimsical feeling. The delicate script front used throughout was a complimentary pairing to the deckled edges. The soft mauve, rose and almond colored envelopes and silk ribbon added another dimension and airiness to this suite that felt complete and romantic.
Seeing the inspiration for the wildflowers that would be used, I knew I wanted to incorporate some of the flowers as an accent to the menu cards and the place cards which were designed with that in mind.
When I came across the lavender, the table design just clicked. The lavender sprig was a perfect addition to the menu card placements. The “Pick Your Seat” place cards with the woodandwordblooms flowers was something Kathy and I collaborated on doing as a way for the guests to build their own centerpieces as they took their seat, adding an interactive element to their evening.
